Additional to the existing server-based DEM editing available in Baan IV DEM and iBaan ERP DEM, the modelers can now count on a DEM compliant stand-alone editor enabling processes to be created and modified on a “offline” platform such as laptops & desktops, to be later uploaded back to the server level. Aimed for on-the-road consultants but not limited to these, this new modeler application accepts both Baan IV DEM and iBaan ERP DEM diagrams.

To enable embedding of enhanced content format in DEM diagrams, the Baan IV and iBaan ERP 5 models can now be linked to unlimited documents (any format), such as work instructions, ISO quality manuals, internal procedures, etc… The resulting model is then richer and more efficient for the end-users with the merging of the “what to do” information (DEM flows) and the “how to do it” (attached documents). Even the ability to “generate on demand” user manuals, based on selected criteria such as user-roles, process ownership, functional segment, industry focus, etc … is possible..

Acknowledging that business knowledge needs to be globally & easily accessible to be truly valuable, DEM models & diagrams can now be viewed and navigated by all Intranet employees and/or Extranet supply-chain partners, regardless if they have a Baan user account (login). Under this extended distribution framework, it is now possible to use DEM to document all departments/divisions of the organization. The resulting web-enabled DEM diagrams, and all related documentation, can now be accessed using only a standard browser. In addition to facilitate significantly the deployment of DEM models in large multi-sites organizations, the web-publishing of DEM provides an efficient end-user support interface by enabling queries and navigation by processes, by user-roles and by documents..

Having played a significant role in accelerating and simplifying Baan implementations since its introduction, DEM can now be used to support Process Improvements initiatives, with the availability of simulation capabilities and Activity Based Costing. Supporting re-engineering projects, targeted DEM processes can now be used to calculate processing time and resources consumed, and most importantly, the “added-value” ratio in each process steps..

As organizations are faced with constant pressure to streamline their business activities and improve their ROI, the automation of selected process steps, or workflow execution, is then needed.
